What is the project ?

Leading Kid – Young Child Leadership is an elementary school leadership program for children in grades 4-6. The program will operate in a uniform line with the school student councils in Ashkelon, of which the 'City Leading Kid Council' will be composed. The councils (both school and municipal) will form a leadership base in the areas of occupation of children of these ages and will constitute preparation for the student and youth councils in the upper primary schools.

In this program, the children will undergo training, workshops, courses and empowerment processes that will contribute to them in the near and distant future. In addition, they will acquire teamwork tools and personal skills. The municipal team will form the basis for the creation of proactive and involved urban leadership in community life.

What its include ?

The Student Council is an educational challenge to foster representative youth leadership that promotes democratic values ​​in the school and community. The activities of the student society at the school and the activities of its representatives to the student council invite the experience of active citizenship while respecting human and civil rights. The council's involvement in school life helps to foster an optimal climate and strengthens students' attachment and belonging to the school and community being.

The activities of the student council in the school are structured on the basis of values ​​and principles such as human dignity and freedom, the right to equality and expression of opinion, the observance of the law, the "majority and the minority" and the "people for the people". The council is supposed to represent all the students in the school, including unique groups such as immigrants, students with special needs and more, and to act in coordination with its constituents and the laws of the educational institution in which it operates.

The Student Council of the School operates in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Student Rights Law (2000) and the Local Authorities Law – Administration of the Youth Unit and the Student Council (2011).

Powers of the School Board:
